January 16, 2014: The Martin & Co. way to start a new year is to add more wine! We've expanded our offerings from one of our favorite Argentinian wineries: Classico Chardonnay & Reserva Viognier from Sottano. We've also added two new boutique wineries: Oakville Cross Winery from Napa & Altavins Viticultors from Spain. Read more about our new wines and wineries below:

Classico Chardonnay 2013
Reserva Viognier 2013
Oakville Cross Winery - Napa, CA
Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Altavins Viticultors - Terra Alta, Spain
Almodi Petit Negre 2012
"The Arabs, who lived in New Catalonia for over 400 years, used the word 'Almodi' to refer to a world of trade, of cultural exchange and relationships." This legacy has been passed on to Joan Bautista Arrufi & Jordi Casado who founded Altavins Viicultors in 2001.
December 16, 2013: We are proud to announce that two wines from El Porvenir were awarded medals at the International Wine Competition. ¡Felicidades!
Laborum Torrontes 2013 won a Gold Medal
Laborum Malbec 2012 received a Commended Medal
December 4, 2013: We've added a few more wines just in time for the holidays. Another elegant pinot, a white that tastes red & a new hybrid! Read more about them below:
Our latest Pinot comes from Domaine du Prieure and is grown at the highest elevation in the village of Savigny les Beaune. Hautes-Cotes de Beaune is a subregion of Burgundy known for beautiful chardonnay and pinot noir.
We're introducing another boutique winery: Cascina del Pozzo located in the village of Castellinaldo in Piedmont, Italy. This winery uses integrated farming techniques, organic herbicides (no pesticides) and sustainable agricultural practices. Arneis is a quality white grape grown in the Roero region of Piedmont. "Arneis" means "little rascal" in the local dialect and this grape earned its name because it is hard to grow; overlooked for centuries the grape has recently seen a revival. This wine offers big aromatics and a textured, full body that's dry and crisp.
Marselan is a new grape variety from France, the result of a 1961 hybrid between Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache by Paul Truel. The name was taken from the French town of Marseillan, where the parent vines used for the hybrid grew. As this is a small-berried grape, our small, family owned vineyard & winery, Domaine du Couron, only made 800 cases of this wine.
November 4, 2014: We've added more Spanish Wine! Finca Cuco Seleccio & Etim Verema Tardana Negre have crossed the Atlantic just in time for the start of the holiday season. We love that Martin & Company keeps growing, bottle by bottle!
October 21, 2013: Another great wine from Kimmel Vineyards has arrived.
The Kimmel 2012 Four Blocks Collection Redessence was produced from premium grapes grown at Kimmel's Certified Sustainable Hillside Vineyard in Potter Valley, California. After picking and fermentation, selected varietals were aged in French oak barrels for added complexity and full flavor. This red blend consists of 85% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Frnac, 3% Malbec & 2% Petite Verdot.
A perfect blend for Autumn.
September 30, 2013: Complimenti Talamonti! Congratulations to Talamonti, one of our Italian wineries. Their wines recently won several medals! Read more about the competitions and awards below:
The Austria Wine Challenge (AWC) 2013 is the largest officially recognized wine competition in the world and our friends at Talamonti are celebrating the fact that both their Kudos and Tre Saggi won gold medals! Talamonti also enjoyed several other medals recently, awarded at the Mundus Vini 2013 where Mod'A, Tre Saggi & Trabochetto won silver.
September 23, 2013: The Catalonia wines have arrived! They are trickling in now with eight new wines but you should see even more wines from Catalonia added to the portfolio in the future. To see the new wines we've added, go to the website's heading and click on "Spain" under "WINES." Read more about Catalonian wines below:
The capital of Catalonia, Barcelona, has a long winemaking tradition and is the birthplace of Cava. In addition to Cava, Catalan wines include dry white wines and powerful reds, known as “black” wine (vin negre), due to their color. Macabeo, Parellada, Xarel-lo, Garnacha, Monastrell and Tempranillo are the primary grapes from Catalonia. The Catalunya appellation is made up of nine Denominacio d’Origens (DO) and one Denominacio d’Orgen Qualificada (DOQ): Alella DO, Conca de Barberà DO, Costers del Segre DO, Empordà DO, Montsant DO, Pla de Bages DO, Tarragona DO, Terra Alta DO, Penedès DO & Priorat DOQ.
September 1, 2013: We are happy to let you know that we have expanded our portfolio again. Please welcome Bodega Sottano's Reserva de Familia Malbec DOC and Judas Malbec DOC!
Judas? What a strange name for a wine you ask? This wine gets its name due to a family feud where one brother released the family’s sacred, small-production, very intense Malbec (intended only for the family’s consumption). After the betrayal, the Sottano family only refers to this as the Judas wine.
The real question is if he received his thirty pieces of silver….
August 1, 2013: We are proud to announce the results of the recent 2013 Commissioner's Cup! Baker-Bird Winery brought home one Gold, two Silver and four Bronze Medals! (Every wine they entered came home with a medal) Read more about the competition below:
The Commissioner's Cup is a competition for commercial Kentucky wines sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and it is the highest recognition awarded in the Commonwealth to the top Kentucky wines of the year in several categories. Baker-Bird won Gold for their Ruby Hawk Rose; Silver Medals were awarded to the Chambourcin and Cab Franc; Bronze went to the Dry Vidal Blanc, Vidal Blanc, Red Hawk and their just released Blanc de Cab Franc. Look for these award winning wines at Party Town, The Party Source and more locations!
July 1, 2013: We are very proud to announce the arrival of the newest addition to our portfolio: Tobin James Cellars from Paso Robles, California! Read more about Tobin James below:
Tobin (Toby) James grew up on a vineyard in Indiana and worked at the family’s wine shop in Cincinnati (Chateau Pomije). He knew at the age of 18 that he would own a winery. Toby apprenticed at the Estrella River Winery, eventually being hired on full time and becoming their cellar master. From there, he headed to Eberle Winery to eventually make their wines with Gary Eberle. When Peachy Canyon started, Toby became the founding winemaker and continued making Tobin James Cellars' wine. The very first wine Toby made won a spot on the coveted "top 100" wines of the year with Wine Spectator. Toby's reputation continued to grow, and in 1993, he decided to build his own winery in Paso Robles.
June 1, 2013: We are happy to announce the arrival of the newest addition to our portfolio: Ave Wines from Mendoza, Argentina! Read more about Ave below:
"AVE!" is known as the classic greeting of the Caesars. The passion of this meaningful greeting is reflected in the wines of Ave with a blend of Tuscany traditions and New World modernity. Ave wines incorporates Italian style and taste with those of Argentina and has been conceived, developed and signed by Alberto Antonini, one of the world's most prestigious winemakers.
May 1, 2013: Do you chatus (pronounced "chat - too")? We do! We have added an ultra rare wine to our portfolio: Domaine du Grangeon's Chatus 2010 from Ardeche, France. Chatus is the grape varietal and only three wineries in the world produce wine made from that grape with only ONE winery exporting it. Guess who has it? Martin & Co.! Get it while we have it as we don't know if we'll be able to re-stock it when we are out and we don't know if/when the next vintage will be available for export.
April 1, 2013: It's beginning to look a lot like rose season, and we have a few great ones, hot off the presses! We just added (and have a limited amount of) a new Cotes du Rhone Rose 2012 (Grenache) from Domaine de Couron. We also have our very popular Carmela Benegas (Cabernet Franc) and Talamonti Rose (Cerasuolo D'Abruzzo DOC). Spring is here so it's time to think pink!
